Marine Laser Cleaning
The marine environment accelerates corrosion and fouling at a rate most other industries do not contend with. Laser cleaning offers a no-media, no-chemical approach to hull preparation, component corrosion removal, and structural maintenance that eliminates the secondary waste management problems of abrasive blasting in marine settings.
Marine Applications
Hull preparation
Anti-fouling removal and surface preparation prior to recoating. CW systems deliver throughput suitable for working vessel hull areas; pulsed for areas with more sensitive substrate or complex geometry.
Structural steel and frames
Internal and external structural steel, frames, bulkheads, and brackets. Salt-accelerated corrosion is removed efficiently without abrasive media in confined spaces.
Shafting and running gear
Propeller shafts, rudder stocks, and associated components. Pulsed laser removes marine corrosion without dimensional risk from abrasive methods.
Deck and topside fittings
Cleats, fairleads, stanchion bases, and deck hardware. Handheld pulsed systems are well suited to working on fittings in situ without removal.
