Laser Rust Removal
Iron oxide (rust) responds exceptionally well to laser ablation. The rust layer absorbs laser energy and is vaporised or ejected, leaving clean steel beneath. Pulsed systems preserve the base metal; CW systems maximise throughput on heavy industrial contamination. ApexLase supplies both types to UK customers.
Rust Removal Applications
Classic and vintage vehicles
Non-destructive rust removal from body panels, chassis, sills, and structural sections. Pulsed laser protects thin sheet metal.
Structural steelwork
Bridges, frames, and structural sections — CW systems handle heavy mill scale and rust at meaningful throughput.
Marine components
Shafting, fittings, and deck hardware. Salt-accelerated corrosion removed without media contamination of marine environments.
Industrial plant
Maintenance of flanges, valves, brackets, and structural components. In-situ cleaning without disassembly where access allows.
Architectural ironwork
Gates, railings, ornamental ironwork, and heritage metalwork where sandblasting would damage fine detail.
Agricultural equipment
Farm machinery, implements, and structural components with surface rust that would otherwise require grinding or chemical treatment.
